100% Online Programming

Grades K-12
28 Years of Innovation:
Empowering K-12 Students with 100% Online Education, Flexible Schedules, and Personalized Support to Help Them Thrive.

Grades K-5 | 100% Online Program

The new online program available for grades K-5 will be taught by through an online program with teacher support. The program is designed to help ensure students get regular interaction with their teachers virtually. Curriculum will be focused on MN standards for each grade along with a strong focus on developing social emotional and interpersonal skills in a virtual setting. There will be opportunities developed for students to engage with other CVA students throughout the program.

A parent or learning coach at home is essential for our young learners to be successful in our 100% online program.

Grades 6-12 | 100% Online Program

Younger students study Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Math, including Pre-Algebra and Algebra and Fine Arts online. High School students have wider choices sufficient to meet all of Minnesota’s graduation requirements. Each subject is supported by a highly qualified licensed teacher and aligned to MN standards. The 100% Online Program provides flexibility and accountability to meet a range of student needs.

There is no specific start/stop time or schedule that students are required to follow.

Scheduled teacher connections will be available to students along with office hours to support student success. Elementary students should expect to have more scheduled connections to support their online learning experience. Classes are designed so that if middle school students do 4-5 hours of work 4-5 days a week, they will finish their four core classes (Language Arts, Science, Math and Social Studies) in a regular school year.

High School students should expect a more rigorous work load of the core classes plus a variety of electives.

Curriculum & Teacher Support

Primary learning comes from the online computer program itself in the form of readings, videos, interactive activities, online worksheets, projects, quizzes and tests. Readings are embedded in the online courses, and science experiments are all done with supplies easily gathered from around the house. More sophisticated experiments are done through simulations or are demonstrated by video.

Teachers answer questions when desired or needed, grade all written activities and work with students to design individual projects. Students and teachers communicate via email, Google Meet and other online tools to keep students motivated and learning. 100% Online students may also join Study Center on Thursday and Friday to get direct teacher support and engage social interactions with their peers.

100% Online students are always invited to participate in CVA’s field trips, extra-curricular activities, and on-campus events. They can be as much a part of our community as they wish!

Our daughter has grown emotionally and academically --making the A and B honor rolls many times; taking the bus all on her own and advocating zealously for her own needs; and, learning to accept responsibility and consequences. She was not able to go on field trips at her prior school and went to Space Camp in another state with CVA! She has made amazing, huge strides.

My son was diagnosed with very high functioning autism at the age of 11 after many years of knowing he struggled to self-regulate but he was doing very well academically. After entering a traditional middle school, we noticed he became increasingly anxious about managing the loud noise at school, not being able to focus, fast paced social interactions, and general over stimulation by the end of the day. We also noticed the "boom" of socializing happening for his peers he followed from elementary school, but he did not experience that increase in social independence. We looked at many options for schools and decided to shift to CVA. The transition was seamless, the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, and they seem to really understand him. The school is much smaller, the class sizes are smaller and the general stimulation level is much lower. He has time to connect with peers in a lower pressure environment, get more 1:1 time with his teachers, and be challenged on subjects that he excels in. He has a handful of friends at school and loves the independence of the fusion program. We live a few blocks away from the school so he comes home on Thursdays to do online school work while I work from home. He is able to connect with his teachers virtually if he needs special instruction. He is able to use extra time at home for building projects and mountain biking. The communication from his teachers has been excellent and the attention on his special needs related to autism has been great. I finally feel like I can take a deep breath and know he has found his people and his place for learning. Thank you to CVA and all the great people who make it possible!

My student developed math anxiety during 4th grade and fell behind. When he started 8th grade at CVA his math skills were 2 grade levels behind so he was placed in the ADSIS program to receive additional instruction in that area. After years of stress over math it was hard to believe that he could catch up. Within just a couple of months he was more relaxed about math and by the end of the year he was feeling confident and his math skills were greatly improved.

We haven’t had any major conflicts over schoolwork since he’s been at CVA, I honestly didn’t think it was possible.

My son feels safe and supported at CVA - something that was missing for him at our public school.

He has gained confidence in himself as a student, which he didn’t have at his previous school.
